Alexis James was born and raised in San Jose, California. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2004, where she was a Regent’s Scholar and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Classical Civilizations. Alexis earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 2009 and was admitted to practice law in California in December 2011.
Prior to law school, Alexis worked in accounting, human resources, and construction management. During law school, she studied for one summer in Rome, Italy through St. John’s University, School of Law. She also interned at the Probate Division at the San Jose Superior Court and participated in Vermont Law School’s Semester in Practice program where she interned at the United States Mission to the European Union, Foreign Commercial Service in Brussels, Belgium, in 2008.
Alexis started as a law clerk for the Law Office of Jonathan I. Arons in September 2011 and continued as an associate attorney in December 2011. Her practice is composed of admissions matters, including moral character applications and issues, State Bar defense, and ethics advice.
Alexis enjoys cooking, the outdoors, and exploring the bay area with her husband and two young children.
